Sarah Jones-Larson

Sarah Jones-Larson (Toha), Teaching Specialist for the Dance Program, teaches DNCE 1317 Arabic Dance. She is a teacher and performing member of Cassandra's professional Arabic dance touring group Jawaahir Dance Company. She has also performed with Zorongo Flamenco and Theatre De La Jeune Lune in Minneapolis, Habiba Dance Ensemble and Ballet Des Jeunes in Philadelphia, the ACT Studio Dancers in Denver, Ecos De EspaƱa in New York City and is an expert on both the finger cymbals and the castanets.

She joined Jawaahir in 1994 and has traveled several times to the Arab world to study with dance masters and practice her Arabic language skills. She has taught thousands of classes nationwide for groups and individuals, and also teaches stage makeup through the Guild of Oriental Dance, Oasis Dance Camps and regional workshops.

Outside of dance she is a radio announcer (as Salina Jones) on KOOL-108 and six other Twin Cities stations, and teaches and performs commercial voiceovers regionally and nationally.
