The University of Minnesota Dance Program provides professional technical training, fosters an intensive creative process, offers extensive performance experience and promotes rigorous intellectual inquiry through its two degree programs: the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). The BA is a Liberal Arts degree in general dance studies. The BFA requires a more in-depth study in technique, composition, performance and dance academics. Both degrees can prepare the student for a performance/creative career, teaching, or further studies in dance in areas like history, criticism, ethnology, pedagogy, movement analysis, and kinesiology. Acceptance into both degree programs is by audition only.
The University of Minnesota is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Dance
